Study — the river's meander
Storytelling & Spoken Word
David Casillas can tell you where every spring on his family's land comes up, and the name of the person who named it. He is not a performer by trade — he is a rancher who happens to be the best storyteller in three counties, which around here amounts to the same thing.
Under the live oaks each evening he tells the legends the festival is named for: the painted caves, the comanche moon, the flood of '32, the panther nobody will admit to seeing. Kids sit up front. Everyone else leans in.
