Before You Go

Coming to the canyon

A free three-day festival in real Texas backcountry. Here’s how to get here, where to land, and how to make the most of it.

The Frio Canyon is not a parking lot with a stage in it. It’s spring-fed water, limestone walls, live oak and cypress, and roads that were paved for ranch trucks, not festival traffic. That’s exactly why it’s worth the drive — and why a little planning goes a long way.

Read what you need below. The short version: come early, bring water and cash, book a bed sooner than feels reasonable, and treat the river with respect. The canyon will take care of the rest.
